St. Brigid Day- Imbolc

Today is the half way point between winter solstice and spring equinox.  A time for new beginnings. We got hit by a big blizzard today, so you would have thought that would have preoccupied me, but oh no! Lily came over and we honored this lovely time of year in our own fashion…

We put on our aprons and started new beginnings for Lily. She learned to make her own lip balms, and how to write the recipe on a card for her very own recipe box! She had great fun making the recipe her own with the addition of a little essential oils and then  making the labels for the tubes

She also made some lovely paper snowflakes, to honor the blizzard and the day

We then thought maybe we should shake the rugs, vacuum, and get the laundry done. We felt a wee guilty as Papa had been laboring mightily with his shovel and snow blower all day while we were crafting and having fun! lol

Lily took a picture of me in my favorite apron my dear sweet friend Rita gifted me

And the white pine, all dressed in white, watched over us through the window…

What a fun day it was for you guys! Wish I could say the same here... Hannah's been home sick for two days now, and I just found out today that I have strep. Blech... what a week.
Stay warm with all that snow you guys got!!

Oh what a lovely day in such a cosy home!
Lily is so lucky to have such a great granny!
You are my hero and role model, but until I can have grandchildren I hope to survive all the years my kids are challenging me :-)
Big big herbal hugs and thank you for sharing such a wonderful day with us!
The pictures are awesome and I am glad the blizzard wasn't that bad like in other US states...
You are a great inspiration and I hope to get the time to make a recipe box to my daughters birthday in a few weeks. Such a great idea!
Thanks allot Leslie!

You are welcome, Brigitte! Lily will be 7 this summer. She has always been my little helper with the bees and herbs and in the kitchen. She was so happy to get a grown up apron (she had little ones she has about outgrown!) and to have her very own recipe box:)Children are challenging and you have to remember it is much easier as I do not have her full time like her mom does! lol We were lucky with the blizzard! We got deep snow but the storm passed sooner than expected and had a sunshiney day! xxx

What a cozy and delightful way to spend Imbolc! Lily is indeed luck to have a granny like you :) What fun! You look so adorable in your apron too :) Glad the storm passed by you without wreaking too much havoc. It has left us with a good half foot of fresh snow here in VT - all sparkley and beautiful today in the sun. Enjoy!

Thank you Danielle xx I believe we ended up with about 18 inches of snow! My backyard looks like a wonderful snow maze, where my hubby has plowed paths to his pigeon houses, my beehives, and to the squirrel and bird feeding stations, and the back gate! lol Nice you got just enough snow to make a lovely sparkley winters day:) We had not had sun for any length of time, for just weeks, so it was a special day with the new snow and the sunshine here also! I hope you have a beautiful day also xx

It looks like a magical day and a perfect way to celebrate the promise of Spring soon to come... even if all that snow would make you imagine otherwise. :) xx
