Sounds like a wonderful event. Upper Slaughter is such a strange place name...wonder what went on there!

Thanks for publicising this, Leslie. Bridget, Slaughter is derived from an Anglo-Saxon word meaning "muddy place" and not anything violent. The remaining members of the Slaughter Family, who took their name from the place and were Lords of the Manor now reside in the US. They returned for the Lower Slaughter church centenary in 1966 when I was 10 and sang in the church choir.
